Flourish Where You're Rooted

Updated: Jul 21, 2024

Psalm 92:12-14 (ESV)

"The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like the cedar in Lebanon.

They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of God.

They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green"

The artwork is an idea that came to me as I was walking my dog one morning.  I live in the Texas hill country.  This was the first morning that there was a lot of wildflowers blooming.  Springtime here is truly beautiful.

First, I noticed, that the soil here is rocky and hard, very compacted.  Yet the wildflowers still pushed through this hard soil and grew into these beautiful flowers. You see God knew that these wildflowers would flourish here, that is why he rooted them here.  We are in a drought now, yet the flowers still flourished despite the drought.  (In turn these flowers feeds birds and bees.)

God planned and determined when we were born and where we would live. God planted us where we are because He knows we can flourish where we are.  We can flourish right where we are no matter the conditions, we find ourselves in.  God plants us where He knows we can have the potential to grow and flourish to do the work He created us to do.  This is only possible if we walk with God and grow with God.  If we’re rooted in Him.

So, to flourish where you’re rooted, spend time with God so that He can nourish your soul, to be who He created you to be, and in turn He can use you to help others flourish.
